Mr. Brainwash

11 August - 11 September 2023
A collection of Mr. Brainwash works by Arton Contemporary. Collage, color, and character define each of these energetic and intentionally chaotic pieces. Through his process of subverting cultural iconography and appropriation, Mr. Brainwash borrows recognizable imagery made popular from artists like Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, and Banksy. Mr. Brainwash's interest in street art was spurred by a visit to France in 1999, where he learned his cousin was famed graffeti artist Space Invader. He has since developed an exceptional international reputation beyong hype-culture. The positive and uplifting phrases Brainwash uses has captivated audiences and can be attributed to his rapidly growing fan base. This collection includes some of Mr. Brainwash's most notable imagery such as the Banksy balloon girl, the Basquiat crown, and the Warhol Campbell's soup. Although Brainwash uses stencils to repeat certain imagery, each piece is a unqiue collage of colors, texture, text, paint, and splatter.
