All That Glitters: A Collection of Works with Diamond Dust

1 June - 1 August 2023

A collection of works that shimmer and shine by Arton Contemporary, featuring a variety of pieces by Damien Hirst and Hunt Slonem.  Each artwork in this collection includes the material of diamond dust, glitter, or both. Together the pieces refract and reflect light in exquisite harmony, brightening even the cloudiest of days. The opulence in this show is undeniable.

Hunt Slonem ins an American painter, sculptor, and printmaker. He is best known for his Neo-Expressionist paintings of butterflies, bunnies, and his tropical birds. He is considered an integral member of the Neo-expressionist movement. Slonem's playuful paintings often depict multiples of the same subject in a loosley composed grid, rendered with gestural brushstrokes and a witty sense of humor.

Damien Hirst is a British conceptual artist known for his controversial take on beauty and found-art objects. Hirst was part of the Young British Artists movement that rose to prominence in the early 1990s. "I have always been aware that you have to get people listening before you can change their minds," he reflected, "any artist's big fear is being ignored, so if you get debate, that's great." Hirsts works are held in the collections of the Tate Gallery in London, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.Cc, and the Rubell Family Collection in Miami.
